Around the Air Force: FAA Partnership / New Commander for AFMC / Exercise Delivers Humanitarian Aid

HEY THERE EVERYONE, I’M STAFF SERGEANT GREG
CERNY WITH YOUR LOOK AROUND THE AIR FORCE. THE AIR FORCE AND THE FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCED A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT TO COUNTER THE NATIONAL AIRCREW SHORTAGE. THE HOPE IS TO INSPIRE A PASSION FOR AVIATION
IN THE NEXT GENERATION. THE PARTNERSHIP FOCUSES ON THREE AREAS. ATTRACTING NEW PEOPLE TO CRITICAL AVIATION
PROFESSIONS, MAXIMIZING EFFICIENCY IN TRAINING, AND PROMOTING PRODUCTIVE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, ACADEMIA AND INDUSTRY. THE GOAL IS TO DEVELOP A MORE SUSTAINABLE PILOT ENTERPRISE THAT PROMOTES AVIATION NATIONWIDE, INCREASES PILOT PRODUCTION, REDUCES BARRIERS
TO ENTER THE PILOT CAREER FIELD AND LEVERAGES TECHNOLOGY AND STATE OF THE ART TECHNIQUES
TO IMPROVE PILOT TRAINING TO MEET THE OVERALL DEMANDS OF THE NATION’S AVIATION INDUSTRY. GENERAL ARNOLD W. BUNCH JR. ASSUMED LEADERSHIP OF THE AIR FORCE MATERIEL
COMMAND DURING A CEREMONY AT THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE AIR FORCE, MAY 31. THIS COMMAND IS THE MOST IMPORTANT MAJCOM
IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE TO ACHIEVE THE NATIONAL DEFENSE STRATEGY, TO GET THE
AIR FORCE THAT WE NEED AND TO ENSURE THAT WE REMAIN THE WORLD’S MOST DOMINANT AIR FORCE. BUNCH IS THE 10TH AFMC COMMANDER SINCE THE
COMMAND STOOD UP ON JULY 1, 1992. GENERAL BUNCH IS ALSO THE AIR FORCE TEST PILOT
SCHOOL’S ONLY TRIPLE-QUALIFIED TEST PILOT IN THE KC-135, T-38 AND B-2. DURING A READINESS TRAINING EXERCISE, A TEAM
OF RESERVE AIRMEN FROM JOINT BASE CHARLESTON’S 315TH AIRLIFT WING, SOUTH CAROLINA, DELIVERED
LIFE-SAVING EQUIPMENT TO CITIZENS OF PUERTO PLATA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. IT WAS A DUAL-PURPOSE HUMANITARIAN AND TRAINING MISSION THAT ALLOWED THE RESERVE AIRCREW TO MAINTAIN FLYING AND READINESS REQUIREMENTS, WHILE PRACTICING SKILLS THAT CAN’T BE REPLICATED WHILE FLYING WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL U-S. AND THAT’S YOUR LOOK AROUND THE AIR FORCE.
