Sheriff’s office forms partnership with US Army to recruit former personnel as deputies

A FORMAL SIGNING CEREMONY TOOK PLACE TODAY TO OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCE THE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE KERN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE U-S ARMY TO RECRUIT MILITARY PERSONNEL AFTER THEY DISCHARGE. THE MISSION FOR THIS PARTNERSHIP IS TO ASSIST IN BRINGING QUALIFIED CANDIDATES TO SERVE IN OUR COMMUNITY AND FACILITATE THEIR JOB SEARCH. BATALLION COMMANDER GRANT SAYS THAT MANY OF THESE VETERANS HAVE UNCERTAINTY BECAUSE THEY DON’T KNOW IF THEY WILL EVER FIND A JOB OR THE SUCCESS THAT THEY HAD IN THE MILITARY. HE ADDS THIS NEW INITIATIVE WILL BENEFIT BOTH THE COMMUNITY AND THE CANDIDATES. Lawerence Grant: “I think it’s an added benefit when they’re thinking about where they want to go home and settle to and what job they want to get into, to know that there are organizations and agencies who are interested in them and in their skills and getting the opportunity and an interview.”
