U.S. Army combat brigades leave Iraq

[Malone] Soldiers from the 4th Stryker Brigade
Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, high five and celebrate while crossing the
border after a yearlong deployment from their home station at Fort Lewis, Washington.
This unit is the first to self-retrograde, meaning drive themselves out of Iraq,
since 2004. 1st TSC’s deputy commanding general, Brigadier
General Nick Tooliatos, was there to greet them.
[Tooliatos] Good job, guys! Proud of you! [Malone] By driving themselves out, these
Stryker troops helped pave the way for a faster and more efficient drawdown from
Iraq. [male soldier] I’m pretty honored to be part
of the last combat brigade and additionally, to be one of the guys
fortunate enough to be on this mission to be on the last patrol.
